Carlton Morris was born July 22, 1938 in Sparta, GA to Ms. Annie Lou Morris and Mr. Paul Adams.
Carlton was raised by both his grandparents Mr. Wilbur and Mrs. Buena Morris and two aunts Louise and Laverne. His early education began at The Shiver's Grove Church School and the East End Elementary School, both of Sparta GA. His church home was Shiver's Grove Methodist Church where his total childhood upbringing was centered, along with the Linton Road community of Sparta. Carlton’s nickname was "Chicken Morris.” He was raised in a close family-like relationship with the Johnson, McClin / McClain, Scott, Gilbert, Holliman, and Lundy families. Through these family bonds, he met and formed a brother-like bond with Charles Johnson.

At the age of 17, his grandmother, Mrs. Buena Morris, and his aunt, Louise Morris, enlisted him into the U.S. Army, where he served for 21 years. While in the military he earned his GED, and served during the Vietnam War. During his career in the Army, he received numerous letters of commendation and awards. Among those were: Purple Heart, (4) Bronze Stars, Army Commendation medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Commendation Medal and Combat Infantry Man Badge. He proudly wore his uniform when on leave from the Army and during his visits home. He was always neat, proud, and in order. From 1968 -1979 SFC married Lizzie F. Rutland and to their union came a son, Carlton Pilata Morris.

After his tour of duty with the U.S. Army, SFC. Morris was employed as a Security Manager for Ladha Hotels for 6 years. In the early 80’s he chose a career with the City of Atlanta where he served as bailiff for Judge Malicki at the Atlanta Municipal Court for 15 years. In his spare time, Carlton worked relentlessly helping his veteran cohorts to receive their benefits.

SFC. Morris was a very dedicated and devoted man to his fellow veterans and friends. He was always willing to help in anyway and anywhere that he could. He held seminars and briefings to aid anyone in need of his services regarding information helpful to those seeking veteran's disability. It has been recorded that he assisted over 500 veterans in achieving 100% of their benefits. This was his ministry for many years even after he lost his ability to speak in 2012, due to a stroke.

Carlton was preceded in death by his father Paul Adams and mother Annie Lou Morris. He leaves to cherish his memory one sister Pearlie Adams Lee (Raymond) Lakeland, Florida, one brother James Morris, Sr. Milledgeville, GA, one son Carlton Pilata Morris (Sonya) Douglasville, GA., one daughter Annette Seye (Daouda) Brooklyn, NY, Grandchildren: Caleb Morris Douglasville,  GA., Shanta Tucker Wilmington, DE, Alito Tucker Hawley, PA, Lavaysha Lewis Waldorf, MD, Rickeeta Tucker Brooklyn, NY, Great grandchildren: Saniya Morales, Zuri Morales, Sultan Morales, Nile Lartey, Niece and Nephew: Barbara Harvell Milledgeville, GA, and Raymon T.
