Joe Lee Sherfield was born August 29, 1930 to Rose Arnold and Emmitt Sherfield in Rex, GA. He was raised in Cedartown, GA where he met and married his beloved wife, Ethel Sherfield. Shortly after in 1955, Joe enlisted in the military making the ranks of being a General as a Medic in the US Army. He completed his full term of six years in the Army receiving honors which included three service medals.
Joe moved to Atlanta and became employed with the City of Atlanta in which he worked until his retirement. He loved to fish and stayed actively busy transporting cardboard and Aluminum as a side hobby during his retirement. Mr. Sherfield was known for his extraordinary sense of humor, caring and loving for his family. Although he and his wife had no biological children they together raised three of his deceased sister’s children with love, Norman, Terry and Tony Pace.
Joe leaves to mourn a loving wife, Ethel Sherfield; one brother, 91 years young, Robert Arnold, of New York City; one niece, Matilda Arnold, whom was his caretaker until death and a great host of other nieces and nephews in Atlanta and New York City. He was loved by many and will be truly missed.
