Sister Earnestine “Teena” Reed was a delight to her family, the joy of her friends, and she loved the Lord Jesus. She departed this life July 31, 2017. She leaves a legacy worth emulation.
From her childhood, she knew that she was gifted in praying. She took her vocation seriously and never was too busy to pray. One of her expressions was, “You praise while I pray.” She was anointed and was dedicated to others in praying and listening to their problems.
She spent numerous years working at C. L. Gideons Elementary School. She considered each faculty and staff member a special part of her family and prayed for all of us constantly. She also felt that one of her God-given missions was to improve the academic success of all the children in her classes at the school.
She considered the members of this church her family, as well. She participated in activities, committees, programs, and church as mandatory functions. If she was not present physically, she was praying for all of you.
She is survived by her husband, Wilford Reed; her daughter, Mignon Manley (Paul); granddaughter, Destiny Banks; her brother, Robert Porter; her play-daughter, Tresa Gordon; and a host of other relatives, church members, and friends.
God has rested her soul according to the scripture, Revelation 14:13, “And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, ‘Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them.’”
