William Donald Jones was born on July 26, 1941 in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up in South Atlanta. He attended L. J. Price High School.
In his early years, he worked for the Board of Education and later became employed with A. B. Griffin and son as a professional painter.
He was known by most people as "Billy" and were given the nickname as "Lil Knot". He loved spending time with his family and gave his grandchildren and great grandchildren such funny nicknames.
He enjoyed watching the Falcons play and would call Julio his son , because they had the same last name. His life ended peacefully with smiles, blowing kisses and love.
William met Gladys Jones at the age of sixteen, the love of his life, and they continue to share years of friendship by remaining connected.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents Mr. Willie and Almd Lee Jones, Daughter, Angela Jones Walker (Sodney); son at birth Joseph Jones; Grandson Jarvis Jones; Sisters, Corine and Evelyn; Brothers, Gerald, Marion and Alvin.
Remembered, loved and cherished by Gladys Jones; his children, Mario Robbs, Anita Jones, Lillie Jones, Consuela Hunter (Cedric) and Billie J. Jones; sisters, Fannie Fambro, Jacqueline Champion and Nellie Faye Booker (John); 20 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren; a very good lifetime friend, Joseph Lundy Muncie Frank; a host of nieces,, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Alice, and his sister, Ms. Enid Bucknor.
