Ms. Dorothy Lewis Obituary

Dorothy (Dot) Lewis was born January 22, 1933 to Robert Bolden and Nellie Martin in Atlanta, GA. Dorothy made her transition to her heavenly home on January 5, 2020 at Clara’s Personal Home Care in Stone Mountain, GA where she was deeply loved and cared for. 

Dorothy spent her formative years in Atlanta, GA with her mother Nellie Martin and sisters; Edith Mae, Ethel Mae Martin, Elizabeth Hawkins, Annie Ruth White, Viola Martin and Bessie Anderson.

Dorothy attended David T. Howard High School in Atlanta, GA where she served on the Majorette Team and enjoyed high-stepping during local parades. Dorothy married Charlie Lewis on January 08, 1962 in Atlanta, GA. Dorothy was the proud mother of Calvin Martin, Deborah Lowe, Harriet Martin, Robin Martin, Trina Matthews and Dexter Lewis. 

Dorothy later moved to Decatur, GA where she was known to many as “Dot or Grandma Dot”. Dorothy worked as a Property Manager and successfully managed numerous properties for over 30 years. Her passion was enjoying life, painting, shopping and listening to gospel music.Dorothy enjoyed family dinners at her house, spending time with her family and dancing to the music of Bobby “Blue” Bland and B.B. King. Dorothy later accepted Christ and became a member of National Divine Spiritual Church in Atlanta, GA where she was actively involved on The Mother Board until her health declined.

Dorothy will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her spouse, siblings, children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family & friends.
