Mr. Albert Massey Sr. Obituary

Albert Eugene Massey Sr. was born on November 22, 1945 in Mecklenburg County, NC. He was the only surviving triplet to the late Mable Massey-Kirkpatrick and Tyson Massey. Albert was the youngest and he had other siblings which proceeded in death: Annie Mae Massey, Mary Lee Futrell, and Otis Sylvester Massey Sr.

Albert’s family moved to Detroit, MI when he was two years old. He attended Roosevelt Elementary School, McMichael Middle School and Northwestern High School. In high school, he enjoyed playing basketball and running track. He became a boxer and trained at the World Legendary Kronk’s gym with aspirations of being a Golden Glove Contender. Those plans were ceased due to him being drafted by the United States Army in 1966. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Paratrooper Unit during the Vietnam War era.

Albert was the father of Earnest Nathaniel Quick (daughter-in-law, Tashala Quick) mother, Shirley Quick and Kristin ChristinaMorgan (son-in-law, Lonnie Morgan) mother, Rita Holliday. Albert attended Wayne State and Wayne County Community College received an Associate’s in Liberal Arts. He worked atFord Motor Company Rogue Steel Plant for 17 years. He was on Detroit Police Department Reserve for 10 years.

Albert preferred family and friends to call him “Eugene”. His bigger than life personality made him standout around others. His favorite pastime was watching sports. He was a dedicated Detroit Lions, Pistons and Tigers fan. He enjoyed a good game of Spades, Bid Whist and Poker. He loved going to horse races betting on his favorites to win. He loved playing the lottery trying his luck. His passion and joy was singing. You could hear him singing songs by his favorite artist, Sam Cooke and group, The Temptations around the house.

Albert started to decline in health May 2021. He went home to glory on January 14, 2022. He will be missed tremendously by family and friends.
