Bradley Bernard Magby, Sr., affectionately known as “Uncle Brad,” was born on May 30, 1963, to the late Lucille Floyd Magby and Morris Alfred, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Bradley attended Atlanta Public Schools and graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in the distinguished class of 1981. He continued his educational endeavors at Fort Valley State University on a football scholarship.
As a youth, Brad attended and was a member of Lamb of God, where he gave his life to Christ at an early age. He loved the Lord and spent his life serving others. Brad enjoyed spreading love, joy, and laughter. It always warmed his heart to uplift others through words of encouragement and prayers.
Uncle Brad held a career as a successful entrepreneur and owned multiple businesses. He established a painting business called “Two Brothers Painting” with his oldest brother Roy “Buckey” Magby, Jr. He spent his later years in business with his youngest brother, Dexter “Doday” Magby, Sr. Together they ran “Two Brother Good BBQ”. His love for people and serving them was evident in his caring nature, encouraging words, and gentle giant personality.
In his adolescence, Brad enjoyed good food, playing football, and spending quality time with family and dear friends. He continued to play football well into his teen years perfecting his skills to become the stellar athlete that gained him a scholarship after high school. As an adult, Brad loved raising his pride and joy, his only biological son, Bradley Bernard “BJ” Magby, Jr., alongside his stepson, Alfred “Kyle” Boyd IV. He was a huge fan of the late Luther Vandross, and also loved cooking delicious BBQ for all of our family functions over the years.
Bradley was a pillar of his family and community as a son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and so much more to all. The void left on earth can never be replaced with another Uncle Brad, but we will always have memories to cherish in our hearts. Brad was preceded in death by his mother, the late Lucille Floyd Magby, sister, Teresa “Temo” Magby, nephew, Orlando “Scooby” Magby, and niece, Larreyl Keichanta “Reyl” Porter.
He leaves behind to celebrate his legacy and esteemed memories: his loving son, Bradley Bernard “BJ” Magby, Jr.; step-son, Alfred “Kyle” Boyd IV; step-father, Roy Lee Magby, Sr.; sister, Phyllis Yvette Magby (Sis. Phyllis); three brothers, Roy Lee “Buckey” Magby, Jr., James Russell “Bobo” Magby, and Dexter Maurice “Doday” Magby; and a beautiful host of nieces, nephews, great- nieces and nephews, uncles, aunties, cousins, friends, neighbors, and the great Bowen Homes community of people who all loved him dearly.
