Eugene Martin Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, was born on November 2, 1965, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Eugene Martin Sr. and Luetta Martin. An only child, Eugene grew up with a deep passion for music and a strong commitment to his community.
He attended public school in Atlanta Georgia at George High, where he pursued studies in early childhood development. Eugene’s love for music shone brightly as he played the saxophone in the school band and served as the lead saxophonist in a local music group that rehearsed in his mother’s basement after school. Music was not just a hobby for Eugene; it was a lifelong passion that he shared with everyone around him.
Eugene dedicated himself to serving his community, working tirelessly for neighbors, family, and friends, often taking on paint and maintenance jobs for local businesses. He was known for his infectious spirit, enjoying every moment he spent watching sports, dancing, acting, and most importantly, caring for his mother.
On December 31, 2024, the Lord called Eugene home to join His heavenly band. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Martin Sr., and his cousin, Kirk Martin. He leaves behind a loving legacy, including his three children, Darius Martin, Cherry Martin, and Montrez Willis; four cherished grandchildren, Dallas Martin, Cairo Martin, Amalia Martin, and Hailey Willis; his spiritual family, Ivey Sanders, Eduardo Sanders, and spiritual mother Rev. Lilian O. Washington; as well as his stepdaughter, Ebony Sanders.
Eugene's warmth, laughter, and influence of music will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. He has left an indelible mark on our hearts and will forever be remembered as a beacon of joy and love.
