Frederick Laverne Simon, born October 24, 1954, passed away on April 25, 2026, at the age of 71.
He was the son of Eles Simon and Lucille Packer Law. Frederick was raised in a large family where resilience and independence were expected, and those qualities remained with him throughout his life.
Frederick proudly served in the United States Army. He entered active duty in September 1972 and served as a Motor Transport Operator (64C20), earning the National Defense Service Medal and a Marksman Qualification Badge with Grenade Bar. His service reflected discipline and capability that remained with him throughout his life.
Frederick lived on his own terms. He was known as a skilled pool player and gambler—someone who read people well and moved with instinct and calculation. His path was not conventional, but it was distinctly his.
He was the father of Kendrick Jackson and Tavares Simon. He also embraced and is remembered by his stepchildren: Kenderly Walker, Gary Reed, Antonia Lemons, Anjelica Lilly, Keondra Miller, and Khalil Simon.
Frederick is survived by his siblings: Alfred Simon, Eles Simon Jr., Anthony Simon, and Olivette Simon. He is preceded in death by his siblings Sheila Simon, Kheresa Simon, and Lucy Simon.
He is also remembered by his companion, Angela Lane (Faye), his good friend Deborah Worthy, and his good friend Lesley “Buck” Dortch, with whom he shared many hours playing pool and gambling, along with extended family and others whose lives he touched over the years. He leaves behind many loving grandchildren who will continue his legacy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eles Simon and Lucille Packer Law.
Frederick’s life was defined not by titles, but by experience, independence, and the relationships he maintained. He will be remembered by those who knew him.
