Jerry Eugene Williams was born on June 21, 1946 in Attalla, Alabama to the late James Williams and Marion Yancey Williams. Jerry had two brothers (Reggie and James). The family later relocated to Chicago, Illinois where his sister (Regina) was born.
Jerry grew up in the East Woodlawn community after moving from Wentworth Gardens. Jerry attended Scott Elementary School and graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1964.While a student at Hyde Park, Jerry played basketball and actually won three games with last minute shots. This contributed to his success at Hyde Park. He was number 32. He always played with the older guys, and this made him a better player at a younger age.
Jerry was married, and to this union, a son was born, Jerry Eugene Williams, Jr.
For years, Jerry worked as a Meter Reader with Peoples Gas. He later moved to Georgia and worked as a Courtesy Driver for a Volvo dealership before full retirement.
Jerry was always a person of faith. He was well liked by all and he never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his son, brother (James) and sister. He leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted brother, Reginald (Edna), a devoted and close friend (Mary Owens James) and a host of family and friends who loved him dearly.
