Karl Jerome Harris, age 74, passed away on September 8, 2023. He was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, to Nelson Harris, Jr., and Margarette Harris on March 4, 1949. During his childhood, he lived with his grandmother and grandfather, Tempsy and Alex Saunders, in Whitakers, North Carolina, where he attended elementary and high school. He attended various colleges, including North Carolina A&T and UNC Charlotte.

Karl met Gloria Jean Anistead in 1974. In 1975, they welcomed into the world his only child, Carlos Jermaine Anistead. Karl had a thirst for knowledge that spanned many years. During that time, he also worked for the schools he attended, including Atlanta Metropolitan University, UNCC, USC, as well as NCR during his lifetime.

Karl Harris always had a love of American muscle cars, both classic and current. The love expanded to motorcycles. Then to anything that moved fast. The love was not just in how they looked or how fast they moved but also how they worked. This transitioned into a love of engineering. In 2004, he received a degree in electrical engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. 

He is survived by his mother, Margaret Harris; child, Carlos Anistead; grandchildren, Kennedy Anistead; uncle, Jerome Harris; aunt, Swayzene Harris; and a host of other relatives and friends.
