Mr. Marvin Walker Obituary

The second born to Wilmer David Walker, Sr. and Etherline Minter Walker, Marvin was
welcomed into this world on September 21, 1942…
He was born in Atlanta, GA (Grady baby) and is a product of the Atlanta Public Schools.
His quest for learning began at home with his family. He was nurtured as a student at E. R.
Carter Elementary School and graduated from the historic Booker T. Washington High
School, class of 1960. He had many nicknames but the one that most knew was
“Eightball”.
He heeded the call to serve his country as a soldier in the United States Air Force. After
five years, he was honorably discharged at the rank of sergeant and then worked at Norfolk
Southern Railway, where he retired after more than two decades.
Marvin was a beloved son, brother, cousin, uncle, father, grandfather, and friend. He
peacefully transitioned from this life on June 20, 2024.
His memory will be cherished by all he knew, especially his children: Roderick Battles,
Nichelle Elaine (Walker) Bailey, Chauncey Kiana Walker, and Marvin Edward Walker, Jr.,
AKA “Marty,
” as well as his siblings: W. David Walker, Jr., Beverly Ann (Walker) Etheridge,
and Donald Wayne Walker, Sr. His legacy will be sustained by his grandchildren: Siddiq
Bailey, Solomon Bailey IV, Emma Battles, Nicholle E. Bailey, Lucas Battles, Spencer W.
Bailey, Brianna Ellington, Nicholas Walker, Azaiah Walker, and Dylan T. Cox. Others who
count it as a blessing to have known and loved him are his nieces, nephews, our Minters
Unlimited clan and a host of other family members and friends.
