Mr. Robert Hood Jr. Obituary

Mr. Robert Hood, Jr. was born October 13, 1940 to the late Robert Hood, Sr. and Hattie Mae Harris Hood in Gay, GA.  He started his early childhood education in the Meriwether County school system and graduated from Archer High Community  School, Atlanta, GA .  Mr. Hood was a very smart young man and graduated as Valedictorian of the class of 1971.  He later picked up several trades for which he became well known.  This included  Upholstery, Tailoring, Mechanic,  Carpentry and he was a self  taught  avid Photographer.

Mr. Hood married Miss Willie Mae DeShazar on July 16, 1960 and from this union two handsome sons were born – Quintin Andre Hood (Q.A.) and Quinn Xavier Hood (QuBe).  In order to raise their children, they finally settled to live on Commercial Ave. in Northwest Atlanta nestled between two streets named after Pops.  On one side was Robert St. and the other side was Hood Ave.  He was king of the hill and that’s where His sons grew to be strong and loyal men whose integrity and strong moral characters were shaped by a steady father figure who was present in their lives as provider and Baseball Coach during their formative years. The ‘boys in the Hood’ knew Mr. Hood who stood for uprightness and honor.

He worked for Hertz for many years until his health failed due to an on the job car accident.  Mr. Hood showed his ingenuity by taking gadgets apart in order to “fix” them and showing his Grandchildren how they worked.  He loved his grandchildren with a special passion and always enjoyed babysitting and helping his Sons and Daughter-in-Laws out with a big smile.    He loved his Grandchildren so much and they loved him because they could get away with eating candy and cookies just because Grandpa told them so.  He would get on the floor to play and look at TV for many hours with the Grandkids and that was their special bonding time that has made an impression for all eternity.

He leaves to mourn a loving and faithful wife Willie Mae Hood; two dedicated and caring sons: Quintin (Angela),  Quinn (Denise);  four grandchildren (Angelica, Olivia, Robert, Vincent);  Siblings:  Louise Barron (Clyde); Andrew; Tommy (JoAnn); Kenneth (deceased); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and associates.
