Mr. Willie Varner

Willie “Ball” Varner was born on November 17, 1954. Ball was the second child of Aaron Samuel Varner and Mary Elizabeth Long Varner, who preceded him in death.

Ball never married, nor did he have children of his own. Ball’s younger siblings became his children, as did their subsequent offspring. Ball loved giving and taking care of his family.

Ball was loquacious and fun-loving. His smile was quick and his presence delightful. He would quickly deliver a joke or an anecdote that would make you laugh and even ponder over its meaning. He was also a loving disciplinarian, always wanting the best for his young ones.

Ball consistently and selflessly gave of his time and money to take care of his family. More than likely, if you are reading this: you are one of the recipients of his generosities.

Ball was the only surviving brother of his three sisters: Gwendolyn and Cheryl Varner, and Shanterria Varner Baker.

We will mourn him forever, along with our other brothers who proceeded him in death: Aaron, Walter, Oliver, Dwight, Maurice, and Lee Otis Varner.
