Mrs. Bertha Vaughn

Affectionately called “Mamie” was born in New Orleans Louisiana on February 27,1936 to the late Jessie and Pearl Lee Kelley. Bertha was educated in the Orleans Parish school system. Following High School, Bertha gave birth to her first son Herbert Smith (Micheal).

Bertha later married the late Wilbert Vaughn in 1964. From this union , she gave birth to her second son, Dwight W. Vaughn.

Bertha gave her life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Law Street Church of God in Christ in New Orleans by the late Reverend Jerry Jones.

Bertha was employed as a cashier and baker’s assistant for Gendusa Bakery Inc for over 30 years until the tragedy of hurricane Katrina in 2005 and relocated to Huston Texas. She later relocated to Atlanta Georgia in 2017 to be closer to her Son and family.

Bertha was called to rest on Monday July 27, 2020. She leaves to cherish her memory her Son Dwight Wilbert Vaughn, her daughter in-law Tangeyon W. Vaughn. Her devoted niece Bobbie Jean Kelley, Four grand children, Justin, Ron, Teionda, and Taniya White. Bertha is preceded in death by her husband Wilbert Vaughn, parents; Jessie and Pearl Kelley; son Herbert Smith; and brother Samuel Kelley.
