Mrs. Eunice Kimbro: A Life of Faith, Family, and Service
Mrs. Eunice Kimbro, the oldest of five children, was born on October 25, 1934, in Eatonton, Georgia, to the late Dallas Mosley, Sr., and Nuna Mae Mosley. Throughout her life, she exemplified unwavering faith, dedication to family, and a commitment to service.
Eunice’s spiritual journey began in 1946 when she joined Jenkins Grove Baptist Church in Eatonton, GA. Her faith remained steadfast, guiding her through life’s challenges.
Education held great importance for Eunice. She attended the Putnam County School system and graduated from Eatonton Colored High School in 1955, where she finished third in her class. Her determination and love for learning were evident even then.
After high school, Eunice moved to Atlanta, where she started her career at Gates & Milton Drugstore. She later transitioned to full-time homemaking, taking pride in providing a stable home and preparing daily hot meals for her family.
Eunice was married to the late James Wesley Kimbrough, and together they were blessed with seven children: Darrell W. Kimbro, Sr. (Sherry); Reginald L. Kimbro (Jacqueline); Stanley Kimbro; the late Jeffery B. Kimbro, Sr. (Valerie); Kenneth Kimbro (Melanie, late); David B. Kimbro, Sr. (Yolanda); and Monica L. Means (Eric, Sr.). Her legacy also includes fifteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Even after moving to Atlanta, Eunice remained connected to her community. As a tenant in Eagan Homes, she touched many lives with her innate compassion and love. Her generosity extended to sharing home-cooked meals with neighbors and friends. Eunice was a culinary enthusiast, known for her savory dishes at family gatherings and exquisite four-layer cakes and rich pound cakes.
Her warm voice and genuine interest in others made every conversation memorable. Eunice’s legacy of kindness and camaraderie will be deeply missed.
Eunice continued her faith journey at Beulah Baptist Church (Vine City) in Atlanta. She joined Beulah in the 1980s under the leadership of Rev. W. L. Cottrell, Sr. She actively served on Usher Board #1, The Missionary Ministry, The Beulah Wheel, and the New Era Convention. Her love for cooking extended to the church kitchen, where she helped serve meals after services. In 2019, Eunice was honored for her 50 years of membership at Beulah Baptist Church, a testament to her commitment and dedication.
After a brief illness in 2014, Eunice sought healing at the A.G. Rhodes Rehabilitation Center. There, she embraced life, finding joy in gardening, music, and an occasional game of BINGO. Eunice formed deep connections with fellow residents, treasuring the bonds she had forged.
She is survived by six of her children, her sister Carolyn Mitchell (Hugh), and her brother Dallas Mosley, Jr. (Phyllis, late). She was preceded in death by her son Jeffery Kimbro, brothers Adolph Mosley and Willie James Smith.
On May 23, 2024, at age 89, Eunice completed her earthly journey, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, kindness, and fulfillment. Her life was indeed a job well done, and her memory will continue to inspire us all.
