Florence Farmer was born June 25, 1934, to the union of the late Mose Forsett and the late Rutha Mae Forestt (Washington) in Live Oak, FL. Florence was the eight of nine children. Her siblings Mose Jr, Amos, Clarence, Murphy, Westen, Arthur James, Mary Lee, and Maebell, all preceded her in death. She moved to NY in the 60’s to start her career and afford her children a better life. In NY, she met and married the love of her life, the late Freeman Farmer. After over 25 years of service for the US Postal Service, she retired and moved to Orlando, Florida. Being the hard worker she was, Florence started employment with Florida D.O.T. as a toll collector where she enjoyed a second retirement. Prior to her death, Florence relocated to Atlanta, GA where she resided with her granddaughter, Alicia Powell. She was a proud and active member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA and loved her pastor, Reverend Clayton Taylor. Florence lived to take care of her family extending herself to everyone she encountered. Not only did she work to give her kids the best life possible, but she also had an active hand in raising most of her grand and great-grandchildren. She left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered and loved to sing and dance to Sam Cook.
