Mrs. Lillie Reese Obituary

Lillie Way Baker Reese was born on April 5, 1943, in Hancock County, Sparta, Georgia. She was the sixth of nine children born to Robert Sr. and Carrie Baker, and was raised in a loving, Christian home. At an early age, she accepted Christ at Second Mineral Springs Church in Mitchell, Georgia.

She attended and graduated from Glascock County High School, and soon after, moved to Atlanta. There, she joined Greater Fairhill Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member of the Usher Board, Senior Ministry, and the Western Tribe.

On January 15, 1972, she married her soulmate, Lee Andrew Reese, becoming a devoted stepmother to his son, Quintin. Together, they later welcomed their beloved daughter, Aleesa Marie.

Beyond her role as a loving wife and mother, Lillie was a woman of many passions. As a child, she fell in love with basketball and proudly played shooting guard — quick on her feet and sharp with her shot. She also had an extraordinary talent for sewing, creating beautiful pieces with care and creativity. A gifted and dynamic seamstress, she wove elegance and love into every stitch — from the intricate lace of custom wedding gowns to the hand-sewn Easter ensembles she lovingly made for her baby girl.

Her hands brought visions to life. She found deep joy in making every client feel fabulous, confident, and comfortable — always believing that what we wear should reflect who we truly are. Even as the years passed, her love for her craft remained steady and strong. One of her proudest creations was a stunning pink satin custom suit, designed with love for her daughter’s 30th birthday photoshoot. Every detail of that suit — from the graceful lines to the vibrant color — was a reflection of her creativity, her care, and her deep pride as a mother. It wasn’t just clothing; it was a labor of love, a symbol of their bond, and a lasting piece of her legacy. Her work was more than sewing; it was a beautiful blend of craftsmanship, creativity, and devotion. She transformed fabric into timeless moments. Her legacy lives on in every piece she touched, and, in every heart, she made feel seen, celebrated, and beautiful.

Most of all, she cherished her family — especially the bond she shared with her daughter, which was filled with unconditional love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Lillie transitioned peacefully and reunited with her beloved husband Lee on April 3, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Sr. and Carrie; four brothers, Robert Jr., Arlandis, Willie, and Melvin; one sister, Ora Mae; her sister-in-law, Ruth Baker; and brother-in-law, Marvin Houston.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Aleesa Marie; stepson, Quintin; two sisters, Marie Houston and Rosie Matthews; one brother, C.W.; two sisters-in-law, Evon Baker and Mamie Baker Wade; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
