Shirley Gilbert-Reid was born to the late Fred and Emma Gilbert on November 4, 1952, in Atlanta, Georgia. After graduating from West Fulton High School in 1970, she began a career in law enforcement as a Fulton County Deputy Sheriff and later a Georgia State Police Officer. She retired in 1998.
Shirley leaves to cherish her memory: a loving spouse, Dwight Reid, of Atlanta, Georgia; two daughters, Tanikia (Tamir) Taylor, of Marietta, Georgia, and Tamitra Fulton, of Atlanta, Georgia; three grandchildren, James Gibbs, Jr., Tereon Fulton, and Kha’mari Jones; three sisters, Sarah A. Mosley (late Winfred), Blondie (Darryl) Daniels, and Linda Williams (Tyrone); six brothers, Fredrick, Anthony, Raleigh (Kayla), Ronnie, Myron (Tongie), and Darrell (Roslyn) Gilbert; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Donald Gilbert.
