Alma Mathis Armstrong was born May 29th 1942. She was the third of twelve children born to Josephine Harris Mathis and John Thomas Mathis (both deceased).
In 1965 she married her sweetheart the late Willie Frank Armstrong Jr. They remained married until his death in 1992.
She was a devoted member of Lttle Friendship missionary Baptist Church in Decatur Georgia where she sang in the E. L. Thomas Senior Choir.
In her teen years Alma began working at the Angrier Ave tearoom where they embraced her more as family rather than just an employee. In later years she was a team member of Comcast until her retirement.
Ms. Alma Armstrong was full of life, enjoyed cooking, loved to travel and had an amazing eye for fashion. She enjoyed spending time gathering with her family and being the life of the party. It also brought her great joy to be a mother figure to many.
Alma passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on November 25 2020.
She was preceded in death by brothers John Thomas Mathis Jr, Willie "Sonny" Harris, Lanny Mathis, James Mathis, sisters Jeanette Mathis Ellis and Charlotte Mathis.
Ms Armstrong leaves to cherish her memory daughters Angela Marsh Terrell (Charlie), Charlotte Armstrong, sons Michael Armstrong (Evelyn), Marlon Schofield (Alicia), sisters Barbara Ann Mathis Cintron (Chris), Loretta Mathis Schofield, Belinda Mathis and Chandra Mathis Tarver, brother Donny Mathis (Verlinda), seven Grandchildren, seven Great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, greatnieces greatnephews, great-grand nieces, great-grand nephews, her companion Mr Walter Read, family and friends.
She will truly be missed.
