Cynthia Renee Mitchell was born on November 28, 1972 in Manhattan, New York to Victoria Braziel and the late Anthony McGill. Cynthia was raised by her parents, the late Queen and Lloyd Peterson in Columbia, South Carolina who both preceded her in death. She is preceded in death by Annie Mae (Albert) Moody and Delphia McGill, grandparents; brother, Michael Peterson.

Cynthia received formal education in Columbia, South Carolina Public School System and graduated from Dreher High School in 1991. Cynthia went on to further her education at Midlands Technical College in healthcare administration. She worked as a healthcare administrator for over 25 years in Hartford, Connecticut.
