Ms. Hestelle Quiovers Obituary

Hestelle was born in New York on the windy March14th day of 1946 to the late Ms. Sara O.Woodbury. Hestelle, the eldest grand of the late Reverend Abraham Frank and Mrs. Hestelle L. Washington Woodbury was reared in the home of her grandparents whom she affectionately called “Daddy and Momma”. Hestelle considered herself the baby of the home and the oldest grand. She was affectionately called “Stelle”.

Hestelle’s educational background includes graduation from Robert Smalls High School, Class of 1964, and Allen University, Class of 1968. She was a member of the choir, business club, basketball team, and yearbook staff at Robert Smalls. She still has her 1964 Robert Smalls High School “The General” Yearbook and 1970 Allen University “Yellow Jackets” Centennial Yearbook, both in mint condition.

Hestelle’s Christian journey began at Grace Chapel AME Church, Beaufort, SC. While living on Hilton Head Island, SC, she was affiliated with Queen Chapel AME Church. In April 2017 she joined New Direction Ministries under the pastoral leadership of her one and only son, Pastor Anthony Kirk Quiovers Sr., and was named the “Mother of the Church”.

Hestelle was married to the late Edward D. Quiovers from Mobile, AL. This union was blessed with one son, Anthony Kirk Quiovers, who was born August 11, 1974 on beautiful O’ahu Island, Hawaii in its capital city Honolulu. She was the proud mother of her one and only baby boy whom she affectionately called “Kirk”. This marriage blessed her with three bonus children.

Hestelle’s employment records speak volumes especially in the Hotel industry with 35+ years of service in South Carolina and Florida. She was well known for her exceptional accounting, customer service, and managerial skills, which were provided with impeccable class and style. She worked for numerous hotels on Hilton Head Island, SC - the Hyatt, Hilton, Comfort Inn, Residence Inn to name a few. She retired from Sunburst Properties. Everyone knew she arrived at work, gatherings, and functions late but when she showed up, she gave 110% to all tasks and did an outstanding job.

Hestelle was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan, a true Pisces who loved to collect fish, and a lover of pink and green. She wore the pink and green colors proudly as a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Prior to experiencing health challenges, she was a dedicated, hard-working member of the Nu Delta Omega Chapter, Beaufort, SC. Her creative and imaginative abilities along with her love and compassion for serving others could be seen in her work, hobbies, and other activities. She had a pleasant personality but tolerated no nonsense. She would get you told in a matter of minutes with her short temper that came and went within a matter of minutes. She was always fashionably dressed, and areas that she assumed care were always spotless and well-organized. She was a spectacular cook of delectable and scrumptious “you name it”- appetizers, vegetables, entrees, and desserts.

Hestelle was preceded in death by her husband, Edward D. Quiovers, Daddy and Momma (Reverend A. F. and Hestelle Woodbury), mother (Sara Woodbury Edmonds - Frank Edmonds); uncle (Samuel Washington Woodbury), and aunts (Cleo Woodbury Hood, Odessa Woodbury Simmons, and Lucille Woodbury Harper); nephew (Khalifah Malik Edmonds).
