Born November 22, 1978, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the proud parent, the late Mary Catchings, and raised by her wonderful grandparents Otis and Ida Horne. The mother of two sons, Demantez Catchings and the late Micah Durden, whom shared a love that could move mountains. She was the loving sister of her only brother Jerry Catchings, a niece to a host of uncles and aunts, as well as a cousin to many. She shared her love with a vast number of extended family and friends.
Latoria Durden, known by her close friends as “Toe-Toe,” grew up on the southwest side of Atlanta. She was a graduate of North Atlanta High School of Performing Arts, and she had a fulfilling career of 16 years with Emory Healthcare. She started singing before she could walk and joined the God Anointed Praise (GAP) Community Choir with her God giving soprano voice. Latoria graciously served as a member of the Eastern Star Organization, Chapter Shining Star 122, and dedicated herself to multiple leadership roles within Wings of Faith Worldwide Ministries.
Toe loved the Lord with all her heart and served him faithfully. She was a woman after Job’s own heart. No matter what life threw her way, she never cursed God and always took care of everyone else. She was blessed with a true servant’s heart. Her delight was in making sure the people around her were taken care of, even if it meant she went without. The light within her shined so brightly that no illness could dim. Toe’s laughter and sense of humor could bring an entire room to its knees. We are all better for knowing such a beautiful spirit!
