Welcome to the memorial page for

Doris Arnita (Moultrie) Glover

February 6, 1943 ~ March 11, 2017 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Doris Glover was born February 6, 1943 to Mr. & Mrs. Mannie Moultrie Sr. (Dorothy) in Mobile, AL. She was the second oldest child of eight children.

Doris was educated in the Mobile County school system. In the early 1970's, she met Albert Glover, Sr. a man who changed her life significantly.  He was a great provider and male role model.  They joined in marriage in 1981 and were together until his passing in 2011.  It was rare that you would see one without the other. Following Al’s retirement, their normal routine included trips to the grocery store, visiting with her sisters and fishing across the bay. She enjoyed playing Phase 10, Solitaire and listening to the music of Sam Cook, the Temptations and Otis Redding.

Her house was known as the gathering spot for her children, family and friends. She could be seen often sitting on the porch, sometimes for relaxation and other times for the “neighborhood watch.” She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Joy Tabernacle Full Gospel Church under the leadership of Rev. Henry H. Jones, Jr.

Doris was always willing to lend an ear or give advice…but only if asked. She was not one to interfere in the affairs of others.  She felt your business, was your business.

Doris departed this earthly life on March 11, 2017 at a local hospital in Snellville, GA.

She was preceded in death by her husband Albert Glover, her parents Mannie (Dorothy) Moultrie Sr. and two brothers Leon Moultrie and Mannie Moultrie Jr.

Survivors include her loving & devoted children, Mr. & Mrs. William Murray (Valarie), Mr. & Mrs. Thaddius Moultrie (Linda), Mr. Roderick Johnson, Mr. & Mrs. Derrick Johnson (Sara), and Mr. & Mrs. Jason Jones (Varnestra), twenty-nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. One brother Mr. & Mrs. Eddie Peasant Sr. (Jeanette).  Four sisters, Mrs. Mary Moses, Ms. DeEstra Moultrie, Mrs. Shearlyne Moultrie, and Mrs. Gwendolyn M. Young all of Mobile, AL. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
